Overall sexual satisfaction and relationship quality in patients with IBD was similar to individuals without IBD. However, the odds of sexual dysfunction were increased in patients with IBD with active disease, stoma, or perianal involvement. Higher hypoactive sexual desire disorder among patients with ulcerative colitis, and genital pain dysfunction among women was also reported.
 
Our results indicate need for incorporation of sexual health in IBD care.
