NEW STUDY: HOW DOES MILD IBD PROGRESS OVER TIME?
Read our new study in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, focusing on the often-overlooked subgroup of patients with mild IBD.
By combining a large population-based cohort with nationwide Danish registries, we show the long-term prognosis of mild IBD - spanning over 20 years.
A significant proportion of patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease remain mild during long-term follow-up. Young age at diagnosis was associated with a higher probability of progression whereas the probability decreased with the duration of mild disease.
Identifying these patients is crucial to prevent overtreatment.
