No increased risk of IBD-related adverse outcomes following COVID

: 28.01.2025

In this new study published in Gastro Hep Advances, we performed a meta-analysis of almost 90,000 IBD patients, with and without a recorded COVID-19 infection, to investigate adverse IBD outcomes following COVID-19. We found that there was no significant increase in the risk of disease flare or treatment failure post-COVID.

While this is reassuring for clinicians and patients, future studies are needed to assess the impact of newer COVID variants.
